On the rebound from a bad mattress? As a mattress can be an expensive item to replace, instead of getting rid of it, a hybrid mattress topper could be the ideal solution. If you still want to sleep on it, a hybrid topper could be the answer to your mattress bouncing back to life. Our Hybrid Mattress Bamboo Topper provides comfort and support with a combination of memory foam and springs. Providing shoulder and hip alignment, the topper helps to ease aches and pains with flexible foam, which adapts to your sleeping position. The addition of bamboo provides temperature regulation, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.

What is a Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper?

A hybrid mattress topper is a type of topper which uses a mixture of materials to improve the comfort level of your mattress, unlike traditional toppers on the market, which only use one filling – usually latex or memory foam. Our Hybrid Topper features a combination of micro-springs and a bamboo-infused layer of orthopaedic-grade memory foam.

Designed to elevate your bed to the next comfort level, our Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper has five layers of benefits. The top layer is our super soft and hypoallergenic bamboo cover, which surrounds the topper in cushion-like comfort. The second layer is made up of our BioCell Foam™ – advanced open-cell technology, which encourages airflow to counteract the heat of memory foam. Underneath is our innovation of precision-engineered springs, each working independently to deliver targeted support. Lastly, our memory foam and anti-slip layer will ensure everything is in place, so your mattress is secure, and you’re undisturbed by any movement in the night. Our memory foam is orthopaedically approved and designed to contour to your sleeping position. Maximising fresh bedtimes for many years to come, our Hybrid Mattress Topper is bordered by a durable, deluxe mesh frame which works to channel airflow and enhance breathability.

Bamboo is the perfect choice of material for a Hybrid Mattress Topper due to its numerous sleep benefits:

  • Temperature control – aids in providing an appropriate temperature for sleep
  • Moisture-wicking – keeps the environment comfortable and dry
  • Naturally antibacterial and odour-resistant – bamboo fends off dirt and bacteria
  • Highly breathable – prevents overheating in the night
  • Hypoallergenic – soft and gentle, suitable for sensitive skin and those who suffer from allergies

Who Is It Best For?

Our Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper transforms sleep for all types, and below you can discover exactly how it provides individual support for the different sleeping positions.

Side sleepers

Sleeping on your side puts pressure on the shoulders and hips while sleeping – the third-generation foam inside our Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper relieves this pressure by contouring to your body. This helps to distribute weight evenly, ensuring your body remains in a straight line all night. To give your head optimum support during sleep, our Bamboo Memory Foam Pillow uses the same orthopaedically approved memory foam as our Topper, keeping your spine aligned.

Back sleepers

A topper which contains all foam may not be supportive enough for back sleepers, which is why our Hybrid Topper is the perfect choice. The foam, combined with the springs, will stop the hips from sinking too far into the mattress. Contouring to this particular sleeping position, our topper also gives back sleepers lumbar support, filling in any gaps made by the small of the back.

Front sleepers

A common side effect of sleeping on your stomach is your hips dipping too far into the mattress – your back reacts by arching into an unnatural curve. A Hybrid Mattress Topper helps to correct this due to its firmness – the density of the foam lifts the hips and limits the risk of lower back pain.

Hot sleepers

The Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper's thermoregulation helps keep hot sleepers cool, so they can sleep in comfort. Providing a fresh approach, an infusion of bamboo in our BioCell Foam™ layer promotes airflow into the open-cell memory foam, making it a highly breathable mattress topper.

Menopause symptoms

If you are going through the menopause, you may find it uncomfortable to sleep at night. Our Hybrid Mattress Topper will help to cool you down to the ideal temperature with thermoregulating bamboo.

Lisa Artis, the deputy CEO of our partner, The Sleep Charity, believes bamboo bedding can make a difference: “Choosing the right sleep surface can make a meaningful difference. A topper that combines breathable materials, such as bamboo, with supportive memory foam and springs, helps reduce overheating by allowing better airflow and can ease pressure points for improved comfort.”

Allergy sufferers

Bamboo is a gentle, hypoallergenic fabric. Suitable for the most sensitive of skin, it won’t irritate those with allergies, eczema or other skin conditions.

Practical buyers

If you’re a landlord, own a bed and breakfast or rent out short-term accommodation, a Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper is an affordable and hassle-free way to upgrade a mattress. The cover is easy to remove, and you can also wash it in the machine. Bamboo gets softer with every wash, too!

Hybrid vs Other Mattress Toppers: Comparison

A recent phenomenon, a Hybrid Mattress Topper is still a relatively new concept for many of us, so we’ll compare it to other toppers in terms of how it feels, if it cools, and how long it should last, and then you can decide which one comes out on top.

Single-layer Memory Foam Topper

No muss, no fuss: a single-layer memory foam topper is exactly what it sounds like. It only has one layer of memory foam.

  • Moulding to your body shape, a topper made entirely of memory foam can feel enveloping and almost like you’re being hugged.
  • Without the balance of a cooling property (like the bamboo and HydroFoam™ blend in our Bamboo Memory Foam Mattress Topper), this type of topper feels warmer, as it retains your body heat from the hug.
  • With regular use, single-layer memory foam can last 3 to 5 years.

Latex Topper

Latex toppers can be made from natural, synthetic or blended latex materials.

  • If a memory foam topper is a hugger, a latex topper is a lifter – you’ll feel lifted onto the bed, rather than feeling the sensation of being enveloped.
  • Natural latex has tiny pinholes for air; therefore, it doesn’t trap heat. Other types of latex options won’t have this ability to aerate unless they have a cooling fabric cover, such as bamboo.

Feather and Down Mattress Toppers

A soft, cushiony feel: feather-and-down mattress toppers are ones you can sink into.

  • A down topper is much more breathable and airy than dense foam.
  • Fibres used are naturally durable.
  • Lightweight and easy to handle – perfect to roll up for storage.
  • Lose loft quickly – needs constant fluffing, and they don’t provide lasting support.
  • As down provides insulation, it can be too hot for some.

Low-budget Toppers

A low-budget or entry-level topper is best suited to those looking for a topper for a guest room or a bed that isn’t slept on regularly.

  • Sinking feeling – low-budget memory foam is very soft in consistency, like a marshmallow.
  • Very warm and traps heat.
  • Not a very durable option – feels good at first, but softens, flattens or develops tears quickly.

Hybrid Mattress Topper

Our Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper will give your bedtime the ultimate lift.

  • With a super-soft, cushioned cover, it feels plush and offers springy, lifted support.
  • BioCell Foam™ innovation provides breathability and cools down the memory foam
  • The high density of memory foam makes the topper durable, so with regular use, it lasts between 5-10 years

Both a hugger and a lifter, the memory foam in a hybrid contours to your sleeping position. An injection of bamboo keeps your mattress topper fresh, making the hybrid arguably the most balanced choice of all.

Sizing, Depth and Fit: Getting the Right Match for Your Bed

Thickness is important for your topper – if it’s too thick, it can throw off your alignment, but too thin and it’ll not provide enough pressure relief. At a depth of 7.5 cm, our Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Topper provides optimal support, contouring, and softness. Four corner straps provided make it easy to attach to your existing mattress. It’s compatible with all types of mattresses, from traditional spring to all-foam to hybrid. Complete with an anti-slip base layer, your topper remains secure every night.

Care, Maintenance and Lifespan

To promote the longevity of your mattress topper, it’s advisable to rotate it and clean it regularly. Every 6 to 8 weeks, rotate your mattress topper to keep it feeling new and bouncy, ensuring an even spread of the foam.

It’s worth noting that dust and dirt can affect its durability. Our Hybrid Mattress Topper has a zip-off cover, making it easy to remove to clean. The topper cover can be machine-washed at a planet-friendly 30 degrees; however, the foam itself can only be spot-cleaned. Do not deep soak, as this can cause damage. If you follow our tips, your topper should last for five to ten years. Once it does reach the end of its life, we’ll collect it for free to be repurposed or refurbished. We encourage recycling, as we don’t want our toppers adding to the landfill. To learn more, visit our page on our Circle of Life initiative.

Setup Guide: From Box to Bed in Minutes

So you’ve made the best decision for your sleep, and you’ve ordered our Hybrid Bamboo Topper. It’s now time to think outside the box. Your topper arrives in protective packaging, and even though you’ll be tempted to sleep on it straight away, follow the instructions below before you can lie back and relax.

  1. When your Topper arrives, it’s time to get excited – you’re in for a better night’s sleep! Unbox your Topper and let it unroll it on top of your mattress. Teamwork makes the dream work, so it’s best if you have an extra pair of hands to get it in place.
  2. You can dive onto your Mattress Topper straight away if you want to, but as hard as it is to resist, we recommend letting the memory foam expand for up to 36 hours for optimum comfort. There may be a smell, but this is normal and goes away after expansion is complete.
  3. Top tip! During the off-gassing (or expansion) period, it’ll help speed up the process if the topper is in a well-ventilated room with windows open.
  4. Once the odour has gone and the corners are filled out, and there’s good responsiveness when you apply pressure, the topper is ready for you! Make sure you’re ready for bed.
