What does “hybrid bamboo mattress” actually mean?

Our smooth bamboo covers are designed to be breathable, moisture-wicking and gentle against the skin. They can also be zipped off and machine-washed at up to 30°C, helping keep your sleep space feeling fresh. The current Panda mattress covers use bamboo yarn on the surface, with a recycled polyester durability layer underneath. Both the Original and Pro covers are removable and washable.

Memory foam is loved for the way it responds to your shape, but dense foam can sometimes retain heat.

Our BioCell Foam™ combines bamboo infusion with an open-cell structure designed to improve airflow through the foam. This gives you the cushioning feel of memory foam while helping heat and moisture move away from the sleep surface.

No mattress can promise you will never feel warm — bedroom temperature, bedding, and personal preference all play a part — but a breathable cover, open-cell foam, and a ventilated spring layer make a rather good team.

The Hybrid Bamboo Mattress Pro features OrthoAlign Foam™, a higher-density support foam that works alongside a seven-zone spring system. The different zones respond to areas such as your shoulders, hips and legs, helping to distribute support across the mattress.

Individually enclosed pocket springs

Pocket springs sit inside their own fabric enclosures, allowing them to respond more independently than a single connected spring unit.

A hybrid mattress cannot stop somebody from moving, but it can help prevent every movement from travelling straight across the bed. Because the pocket springs move more independently, pressure can remain more localised. The surrounding foam and comfort base also help absorb movement.

The result is fewer disturbances than you may experience with a highly connected spring system — although the most energetic midnight starfish may still make their presence known.
