Hybrid Bamboo Pillow Aftercare Instructions

Just a head’s up

Now your Memory Foam Bamboo Pillow has arrived, you’re just a few steps closer to better bedtimes!

Remove your new pillow from the box carefully, cutting it open from its protective packaging with scissors.

The new pillow smell fades after 24-72 hours and it is completely harmless. A well-ventilated room helps it to dissipate quicker – kept in a closed or cold room, it may linger for a week.

You can sleep on a memory foam pillow straight away. However, it may take 12–24 hours to expand fully, so waiting will give you its intended height and support.

BambooCloud™ Cover Instructions

  1. Simple to care for, your Panda Hybrid Bamboo Pillow Cover is removable. With an all-around zip closure, you can take it off and keep it clean.
  2. The cover is machine washable at a low temperature (the maximum temperature setting we recommend is 30 degrees). Spot clean before putting in the wash if necessary, and always use an eco-friendly detergent – avoid bleach.
  3. We recommend you air dry your cover for best results, but there’s the option to tumble dry on a low setting.
  4. The filling of the pillow should only be wiped clean with a damp cloth, alternatively, we’ve provided instructions below on how to give memory foam a deep clean.

Top tip: When your pillow cover is in the wash, make sure you keep spare covers, so you never have to do without your Hybrid pillow. Cover it with a bamboo pillow case to maximise on all the benefits of breathable bamboo. We have three bedding ranges (100% Bamboo Bedding, Bamboo and French Linen Bedding, and Signature+™ Bedding) which all complement our Hybrid Bamboo Pillow.

Deep clean memory foam

There are many great benefits of using memory foam, from orthopaedic support to long-lasting comfort, but to keep it at its best we recommend cleaning your pillow. Our bamboo fabric is naturally hypoallergenic, however cleaning your Hybrid Bamboo Pillow does help to eliminate any build-ups and maximise freshness.

Cleaning memory foam is much easier than most people think. We recommend setting aside a day to deep clean your pillow so it can properly dry before bedtime! Clean the different parts of your bamboo memory foam pillow on this schedule:

  • Pillow case: every one to two weeks with the rest of your bedding.
  • Removable bamboo cover: approximately every four to six weeks, following its care label.
  • Memory foam core: spot-clean only when stained or spilled on. Otherwise, gently vacuum and air it every three to six months.
  • Deep freshening: sprinkle the foam lightly with bicarbonate of soda once or twice a year, leave it for several hours and vacuum it away.

DO NOT deep soak your memory foam as this can cause permanent water damage, which is not covered by our 10-Year Guarantee. Avoid twisting or wringing memory foam, as this can tear its internal structure.

Follow these steps every time your Hybrid Topper needs a clean to keep your memory foam performing at its best.

  1. Solid memory foam should not normally be put in a washing machine or tumble dryer.
  2. Remove surface debris. Gently vacuum the foam using a clean upholstery attachment without a rotating brush.
  3. Freshen the pillow. Sprinkle a light layer of bicarbonate of soda over both sides. Leave it for several hours, then vacuum it away carefully.
  4. Prepare a mild cleaning solution. Mix around 500ml of cool water with one teaspoon of gentle liquid detergent.
  5. Spot-clean stains. Lightly dampen a clean cloth with the solution and gently blot the affected area. Do not scrub, soak the foam or pour liquid directly onto it.
  6. Remove excess cleaner. Blot the area again with a separate cloth lightly dampened with clean water.
  7. Air-dry completely. Lay the pillow flat in a well-ventilated space, away from direct sunlight and heat. Turn it occasionally so both sides receive airflow. Depending on how damp it is, drying may take 24–48 hours.
  8. Replace the cover only when fully dry. Trapped moisture can lead to unwanted smells, mildew or damage to the foam.
